The lady in white

Memories

When silence descends
Upon the hours;
My mind awakens and loiters;
About the bright alleys of memories.
Memories of bright smiles
And unbridled spontaneous
Moments of passion,
Kindled by a mere rustle of our breath
As we mingled in a tight embrace.
But we were touched by the scathing winds of time,
And you unfurled your wings
Hoisted up by the unknown winds of change,
To set sail for an unknown place.
Your heart was severed
while mine bled to death.
For there were no two hearts,
it was one all the while.

We relish memories and nostalgia makes us rot in their sweet smell.
