High way in Arizona between sandstone hills. My better half completed the half-Ironman in Tempe, Arizona on 22nd of October in 5 hours and 50 minutes. Shariq with the wind beneath his wings finished the race within 5 hours and 34 minutes. Mary the youngest of the lot, persevered and finished this race strong within 8 hours 34 minutes.( blog on the race by Shray ) We had planned to visit Page, Arizona after the Ironman 70.3 event. Page was around 4 hours away from Phoenix. It is situated to the North of Phoenix around 281 miles away at an elevation of about 4118 feet. Lower Antelope Canyon, Arizona

The steps that lead the Lower Antelope Canyon. This post is in continuation of my previous post about our road trip to Page . After having reached Page, we alighted from our respective cars and without wasting a second started unloading our luggage and most importantly our prized possessions, our bicycles. We filled two large luggage carts with our baggage while a few of us groggy with sleep and exhaustion barely managed to bring ourselves into the real world. In spite of all the pain, sleep and fatigue, we beautifully managed to get our bicycles, cycle carriers, luggage inside the lobby, unscathed. I spoke to the lady in the reception who seemed to belong to a Native American tribe. After verifying our credentials she asked us to show our respective credit cards to be able to charge us in case if we decided to destroy the rooms we had booked. Pigeons eating pizza. I saw a poor homeless lady being pushed around in downtown last summer. She seemed to linger on the pavement beside my apartment building and sometimes in the afternoon and evenings she would park herself at the intersection of two roads a block away from my apartment. She wore disheveled clothes, had a permanent frown, her rag blonde hair was dry and matted due to lack of proper hygiene and care. Well for those people who have to think of each day as a struggle for survival , grooming is the last thing that might come to their minds. She was pushed around by a stout friend of hers who had a curly beard and wore baggy camouflage pants with a grey jacket which they might have collected from the goodwill a few miles away from downtown on Michigan avenue.
